Unlike a certain Cruise, celeb-heir Lourdes Leon has managed to keep a pretty low profile. But now that Madonna‘s eldest is all of 13 and has a clothing line to promote, it seems mom is finally letting little Lola loose.
As part of the marketing blitz for the launch of Material Girl, the crinoline-lined junior’s collection Madge has cooked up with Macy’s to debut in August, WWD reports that Lourdes has been recruited to play blogger.
“The collection is a nod to the original Material Girl look, but Lola [Leon’s nickname] is part and parcel of making it relevant to today,” said Lanie List, executive vice president of merchandising at Iconix Brand Group. Meaning: Make it ‘kewl’ again. Leon’s first post went live on Tuesday: “Helluuur thurrrr, I’m Lola and this is my first blog entry so it’s kind of like ummmm….” she muses.
In short: She adds lots of extra consonants to her words (“My Chemical Romance is THE BEST BAND EVER for realzzzz”), can’t wait to start dying her hair, and appropriately, loves the ’80s.
I am totally obsessivo about 80’s shorts… You know the kind that makes your butt look kinda big, with a grunge-looking shirt tucked in. It’s kinda nerdy but I love it. And the 80’s are another huge obsession of mine, which is totally amazingly awesome because Material Girl…HELLO! It’s like 80’s themed, which pretty much rocks, so yeah.
In other words, the collection includes lots of lace tops, tulle skirts and bustiers that look ripped from the “Blonde Ambition” tour. Teen speek aside, we’re surprisingly obsessivo.
